SCS was created in spring of 2005 after the retirement of Scott MacDonald as President of New Plan Excel Realty Trust. After 33 years in the real estate industry including many positions in shopping center development and operations, Scott elected to retire from public company life and devote his time to issues and activities of personal interest.
SCS, a Limited Liability Company registered in California, is the vehicle that Scott uses to provide consultation services to industry colleagues. He only undertakes a few assignments each year that are particularly challenging or involve creative solutions.
Between 2005 and 2008 when he moved to Australia, Scott had assignments in Turkey, China, India, Germany, Netherlands, United Kingdom, Portugal, Poland, Russia, Canada, and Mexico. In 2006, Scott lived in London and worked from Morgan Stanley’s office at Canary Wharf, focusing on European assignments.
In July, 2008 Scott accepted the position of Chairman and CEO of Investa Property Trust in Sydney, Australia. At that time, he suspended his consulting practice to devote full time to Investa. In October, 2013 Scott stepped down as CEO of Investa but remained Chairman until March, 2016, when the sale of Investa was finalized. He also served as a Director of the ASX listed Investa Office Fund (IOF) until October, 2015.
Until recently, Scott was an advisor to one of the nation’s largest pension funds, providing a strategic review of about $20 billion in assets. He was also an advisor to investors who own two regional malls in Russia (Moscow and St. Petersburg).
